The Rehoboth Haris Foundation, has empowered 150 female farmers in Idah, with agricultural inputs to boost self reliance, food security and agricultural productivity.
The foundation rolled out its second phase of empowerment Programmes at the Achema Handball Stadium, Idah, Kogi State.
Speaking to journalists at the event, the Chairperson of the foundation,Mrs. Rebecca Ocheni, said the initiative was designed to support female farmers and strengthen food production in Kogi East.
According to her, women were the backbone of farming in communities, and when they are equipped , the organization is securing food for homes and the state at large.

Mrs. Ocheni disclosed that 150 female farmers benefited from the second phase of the programme and that each beneficiary received rice and maize seedlings, as well as chemicals to help them cultivate their farms this season.
She noted that the current exercise was a direct follow-up to last year’s support, where the foundation provided water pumps for irrigation farming systems to the same group.
“We didn’t just want to give once and disappear. Last year we gave them machines to make irrigation easier during dry season”, she explained.
This year we are giving them seeds and chemicals so they can plant, grow, and get better yields. Our goal is continuity.” she further added.
The Chairperson added that the decision to focus on women was deliberate stressing that “women farmers often face the greatest challenges with access to inputs, yet they produce most of what we eat”.
“If we make farming easier for them, the entire community benefits. Their farms feed families, markets, and schools,” she acknowledged.
During the programme, beneficiaries displayed samples of their previous farm products while expressing optimism for a bountiful harvest this year.
Mrs. Ocheni used the opportunity to task beneficiaries on responsibility and accountability. “I want to charge all of you to make good use of everything given to you,”
“Plant well, maintain your farms, and let us see good reports. This programme will grow, but we need to see results so that donors and partners will continue to support us.” she further charged them.
She concluded by reaffirming the foundation’s commitment to rural women. “Rehoboth Haris Foundation, will keep standing with our women. Agriculture is the way forward, and together we can end hunger and poverty in our communities. To God be the glory”
The atmosphere at the Achema Stadium was filled with songs, prayers, and testimonies from women who admitted that the foundation’s support had already changed their farming experiences.
