In preparation for the highly anticipated Ovia Osese Festival 2026, the Ogori Descendants’ Union (ODU), has intensified its grassroots mobilization with a strategic outreach to age groups across Ogori community.

Leading the advocacy visit was Mr. Friday Agbabiaka, Assistant General Secretary I of ODU, who engaged with various age groups in Ogori.

The visit which was warmly received focused on encouraging full participation in the annual cultural festival, a significant event that showcases the rich heritage and unity of the Ogori people.

The Ovia Osese Carnival, is scheduled to commence on Friday, April 17, 2026, with a colourful procession beginning at the Ogori Magongo LGA Secretariat and ending at the Ogori Civic Centre, while octivities will culminate in a grand finale on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Civic Centre, where cultural displays, performances, and community celebrations are expected to take center stage.

During the outreach, Mr. Agbabiaka appealed to all age groups to actively participate and contribute to the success of the Ovia Osese Festival 2026.

He acknowledged concerns over the short notice for the participation fee of ₦50,000 required from each age group to secure space at the Civic Centre, offering an apology for the short notice, while emphasising the importance of collective support.

He further encouraged voluntary contributions beyond the stipulated amount to strengthen the event and broader community initiatives.

Highlighting ODU’s longstanding commitment to development, Mr. Agbabiaka, outlined several interventions funded by the ODU and these include, the payment of salaries for six ad-hoc staff at General Hospital Ogori, totaling approximately ₦900,000 monthly, as well as financial support for PTA-employed staff at Community Comprehensive High School, Ogori.

He also noted that community transformer installation projects have been largely financed through funds raised by the ODU.

The outreach underscored a central message: that community development is a shared responsibility. ODU called on all age groups and stakeholders to unite in support of the Ovia Osese Festival 2026 and to continue contributing to initiatives that enhance the welfare and infrastructure of Ogori.

As anticipation builds, the 2026 Ovia Osese Festival is poised not only to celebrate tradition but also to reinforce the spirit of cooperation and collective progress within the community.
