A cleric, Rev. Dayo Olajire, has called on couples to build their homes on God, mutual understanding, effective communication and sacrificial love.
Rev. Olajire gave the charge during the wedding ceremony of Comfort Oyelade and John Oyinloye at Fountain of Life Baptist Church, Rehoboth Land, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Describing marriage as a divine institution, the cleric said couples must not allow emotions, physical attraction or materialism to overshadow the purpose for which God established marriage.
“Marriage is God’s idea, and you must stay as God’s idea.

“Marriage is beyond the coming together of a man and a woman. It is rooted in the intent of God who instituted it,”Olajire said.
Reflecting on the biblical account of creation, he noted that God recognized the need for companionship before creating woman for man. He cautioned couples against pushing God out of their homes after the wedding.
“If it was God who started the relationship, if it was God who initiated your home, if it was God who gave you the rights and responsibilities, God should not be removed from that home,” he said.
The pastor described marriage as a mystery and a reflection of the relationship between Christ and the Church. He urged husbands and wives to demonstrate love, sacrifice, commitment and service daily.
“Marriage is a picture. It is beyond emotions. It is beyond feelings,” Olajire said.
He also reminded Christian couples that their conduct at home sends a message to society. “What you do in your home is a message to the world. Let your marriage, let your home preach the right message to the world,” he added.
The traditional wedding and reception was earlier held, were family members, friends, church leaders and well-wishers attended the ceremthe. Prayers were offered for the couple’s success, peace and lasting happiness.
