Women have been encouraged to take their role as homebuilders seriously by fostering unity, patience, and wisdom within their families.
Mrs. Rachel Olaitan, gave the charge during the 2025 Mothering Sunday celebration at Saint John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Ilorin, Kwara State.
Speaking on the roles of both parents in nurturing a stable home, she emphasised that a family thrives when both the father and mother work together in harmony.
“Building a home starts with the mother,” she stated. Adding, “without a woman, there can be no man, and without a man, there can be no woman. Both must come together in love and unity.”
She further urged women to be submissive to their husbands, while also reminding men of their duty to love and cherish their wives.
“Be a good woman, be hardworking, be patient in times of trial, be a wise teacher, and always remain prayerful. Don’t be idle,” she advised.
Addressing children, Mrs. Olaitan stressed the importance of obedience and appreciation toward their parents, cautioning that honor should not be reserved only for special occasions.
The sermon drew references from Ephesians 5:21-33, Proverbs 14:1, and Romans 12:11. The service featured prayers, thanksgiving, and gift presentations to mothers in the congregation.
