From David Onuoja, Abuja

The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, has announced the opening of applications for the sixth cohort of its flagship AIG Public Leaders Programme (AIG PLP).

This six-month executive education initiative, delivered in partnership with the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government, is aimed at empowering high-potential public sector leaders across Africa with the tools and strategic insight needed to drive meaningful reform.

In a statement, issued in Abuja, Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation said, applications are now open to qualified public servants from all English-speaking African countries, with a deadline of April 12, 2026. Saying, the programme will commence in October 2026.

Since its inception in 2021, the AIG PLP has built a strong reputation for creating tangible impact, with alumni designing and implementing over 230 reform projects across Africa.

The programme is offered at no cost to selected participants, with the Foundation covering all costs, including accommodation and feeding during residential weeks. Participants will gain direct access to world-class faculty from the University of Oxford and learn to tackle core public sector challenges, such as negotiating in the public interest, harnessing digital technology, and strengthening public organisations.

Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, Executive Vice-Chairman of the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, emphasised the need for reformers who understand systems and can navigate institutional realities. The programme has already shown significant impact, with 62% of alumni earning promotions or assuming expanded leadership roles in post-training.

One notable example of impact it said, is Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, Executive Secretary of Lagos State DSVA, who launched a secure self-reporting tool for survivors of domestic and sexual abuse. The tool has already provided support to survivors and protected crucial evidence.

The AIG PLP is a blended learning experience that combines online sessions with an intensive residential module. The curriculum culminates in a capstone reform project, where participants apply their new skills to real-world challenges within their institution.

All Interested candidates are by this encouraged to apply early through the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation website.
