One person has been killed and four cows died after a trailer suffered brake failure along Crusher Road, Lokoja, Kogi State, last Friday.
The trailer, which was conveying cows, reportedly lost its brakes while on motion.
In an attempt to control the vehicle, the driver veered to the right side of the road but crashed into a phone-charging shop and nearby houses.
The accident claimed one life and killed four cows, while properties in the area were also damaged.
The trailer also crashed into three electricity poles, throwing the Crusher community into a two-day blackout.
The outage disrupted residents and business activities, particularly for those who depend on electricity for their daily operations.
The incident has raised concerns among residents over the safety of heavy-duty vehicles plying the area and the need for regular maintenance to prevent road accidents.
The identity of the deceased and the response of relevant authorities were not available as of the time of filing this report.
