The Senator representing Enugu North Senatorial District of Enugu State, Senator Asogwa Ikeje Israel, of All Progressive Congress (APC), Senator Nwogu Olaka Johnson representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District, PDP, and Senator Halilu Danladi Envulu-Aza representing Nasarawa North of Nasarawa State, APC, including Rep. Rabiu Shuaibu representing Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency APC, Kano State, have received their certificates of returns from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Abuja on Tuesday.
Their bye-election was conducted last Saturday June 20, 2026, in Enugu , Nasarawa, Rivers, Kebbi, Ondo and Kano States respectively.
Presenting the certificates of returns to the elected candidates, on behalf of the INEC Chairman, professor Joash Amupitan, the National Commissioner in charge of South-South, May Agbamuche-Mbu, admonished the newly elected lawmakers to serve their constituents with fairness, dedication and a strong sense of responsibility and good governance.
While congratulating them for the successful of the elections, Mbu reminded them, that their election was a mandate to provide effective representation for the people. Adding that, “the issuance of Certificates of Return marked the formal conclusion of the electoral process and the beginning of the winners’ responsibility to serve the electorate”, she said.
Other elected officials who were unable to attend the ceremony are, Prof. Francis Dayo Faduyile, winner of the Ondo South Senatorial District, including the winners of Zuru State Constituency of Kebbi State.
Speaking shortly after the presentation of the certificates, Senator Asogwa Ikeje Israel, of All Progressive Congress (APC) from Enugu State said, he was happy to witnessed the ceremony, while promising to represent his Senatorial District well.
He attributed his election success to the developmental stride of Governor of Enugu State, Senator Andy Mbah which he described as complete transformer.
On his part, the Rivers State counterpart, Senator Nwogu Johnson, said, “I’m a man with a lot of passion for my people and love for my country. So I believe that having seen where our country is today, each and every one of us who have this opportunity have the chance to be a voice, a voice for the people.
“Everyone of us who have this opportunity should be a voice of his people and speak truth to power, play their roles to ensure good governance prevailed and show empathy for Nigerians”, he averred.
He also assured his constituents of quality representation and responsive leadership.
