The newly elected President of the Bankers All Stars (BAS) Football Club, Abiodun Sadiku, has assured members of improved welfare, unity and teamwork as he begins his tenure.
Sadiku emerged president on Saturday through an online voting exercise, a process he described as a demonstration of trust and collective responsibility among members of the club.
Speaking shortly after his emergence, Sadiku said his leadership would be anchored on service, inclusiveness and transparency.
“My commitment is simply to serve, unite and elevate this club. Together with my executive team, we will strengthen team spirit, improve our welfare system, promote transparency and ensure that every member feels valued and represented,” he said.
He stressed that excellence on the pitch would be driven by discipline and teamwork, while off the field the club would continue to promote wellness, professionalism and strong interpersonal relationships.
According to him, the BAS Football Club, represents more than just football, noting that it mirrors the values of unity, discipline and excellence that members practise daily in their banking careers.
“Football teaches us that success is never achieved alone. It requires trust, communication and collective effort. I therefore urge every member to remain committed, supportive and actively involved. With unity and shared purpose, there is no limit to what we can achieve,” Sadiku added.
The BAS president also promised to build on the achievements and structures put in place by past leaders to further uplift the club.
In his remarks, the immediate past president, Temitope Ogundiya, described the club as a pace-setter among all-star football teams in Ilorin, commending members for their discipline and commitment.
Ogundiya particularly praised members for the prompt payment of dues despite the prevailing economic challenges in the country, urging them to extend the same level of cooperation to the new executive.
He said, “The strength of this club lies in the unity and support of its members. I encourage everyone to rally round the new leadership so the club can continue to grow.”
Other members of the newly elected executive are Tope Badmus as Vice President, Segun Folorunsho as Captain, Ismail Ajia as Assistant Captain, Abiodun Shola as Welfare Officer, Hameed Mosobalaje as Treasurer, Wahab Moshood as Secretary, and Bolaji Ojo as Provost.
