The wife of the president who visited Kogi State on Saturday, also commissioned a series of landmark projects in Kogi State, including the National Community Food Bank Project for the North Central Region, the Kogi State Treasury House, the Kogi State Health Insurance House, and the Kogi State First Lady Empowerment Scheme, describing the initiatives as critical steps towards improving the welfare of Nigerians.

The commissioning ceremony formed part of the First Lady’s official working visit to Kogi State, where she reaffirmed the commitment of the Renewed Hope Agenda to food security, quality healthcare delivery and the empowerment of vulnerable citizens.

Upon her arrival at Government House Lokoja, Senator Tinubu met with members of the Kogi State Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs, where she commended them for their unwavering support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Government of Kogi State.

She urged the traditional rulers to deepen community sensitization on proper nutrition and healthy feeding practices, stressing that grassroots participation remains essential in the fight against malnutrition and the attainment of sustainable food security.

The First Lady also showered encomiums on Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people, particularly through policies and programmes aimed at strengthening food security, healthcare delivery and social protection across the state.

Commissioning the Kogi State Health Insurance House, Senator Tinubu described healthcare especially maternal and child health as a cornerstone of the Renewed Hope Initiative. She applauded the Minister of Health for the ongoing transformation of Nigeria’s health sector and reaffirmed her resolve to continue working with relevant institutions to improve the health and well-being of Nigerians.

Highlighting the achievements of the Renewed Hope Initiative, the First Lady disclosed that over ₦3 billion has been invested in empowerment programmes nationwide, benefiting women, traders, artisans and other vulnerable groups.

She added that many state First Ladies have complemented the initiative by providing additional support to beneficiaries within their respective states.

Senator Remi further lauded Kogi State Government for establishing a food bank to cater to vulnerable residents, describing the initiative as a practical and compassionate intervention that will improve access to food, reduce hunger and strengthen social welfare.

She equally expressed appreciation to the nation’s security agencies for their sacrifices in combating insecurity across the country and thanked God for the safe rescue of recently abducted victims, noting that the development reflects the government’s determination to safeguard lives and property.

The projects commissioned during the visit are expected to further enhance public service delivery, expand access to healthcare, strengthen food security and improve the socio-economic well-being of the people of Kogi State in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
