Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, was abuzz with excitement as Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, commenced a three-day working visit to the state, marked by the unveiling of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s signature projects.

The centre was built by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in collaboration with the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), a foundation established by the First Lady.

The First Lady also commissioned an ultra-modern Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the Dr. Amuda Aluko Ward, both of which are landmark projects executed by the Abdulrazaq administration.

Speaking at the event, Senator Tinubu commended the Governor for his dedication to youth and women empowerment, emphasising the transformative role of ICT in breaking barriers and creating opportunities.

“The knowledge of ICT serves as a significant tool to empower communities, especially women, to break traditional barriers and access new opportunities. I am glad to hear about the success stories and the opportunities these centres afford their communities,” she said.

Governor Abdulrazaq lauded the initiative as a bold step toward securing the state’s digital future.

“Technology is here to stay, and the only path forward is to aggressively invest in the skills and infrastructure that will secure a prosperous future for our people,” he stated.

Over the next two days, the First Lady will commission other projects, including the Emir Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari Flyover and the General Tunde Idiagbon Flyover.

She will also perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the Oluremi Tinubu Hospital and tour iconic projects such as the Innovation Hub, Visual Arts Centre, and Garment Factory.

Accompanied by Vice President’s wife, Nana Shettima, and several dignitaries, Senator Tinubu was welcomed by Governor Abdulrazaq and his wife, Ambassador Olufolake Abdulrazaq, alongside political leaders, traditional rulers, and top government officials.

At a courtesy visit to the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the monarch described Governor Abdulrazaq as a “fine achiever” and praised his unwavering support for President Tinubu.

He also prayed for continued success for the First Lady, the President, and the Governor.

In her response, Senator Tinubu, expressed gratitude for the Emir’s consistent support for the federal and state governments.

The visit also featured a food distribution program targeting vulnerable residents, organised by the Renewed Hope Initiative and ASR Africa Initiative.

Governor Abdulrazaq described the gesture as a timely intervention for the less privileged in the state.

As part of the day’s activities, a state dinner was held in honor of the First Lady at the Flower Garden, a formerly neglected space transformed by the Abdulrazaq administration into a lush recreational facility.

This historic visit further underscores the collaborative efforts between the federal and Kwara State government to drive development, empower citizens, and enhance the quality of life for residents.
