The Kogi Central and West Forum for Equity and Justice received with great shock the passing of its Chairman, Professor Nuhu Omeiza Yaqub.

In a statement signed by the group’s Co-Chairman, Chief J.O Yusuf and Secretary, Dr. M.D Keyi, it described the passing on Saturday, the 4th day of January 2025, of the icon of social justice, true Nigerian patriot, and a respected cosmopolitan public intellectual, “as a most distressing start off to the new year for us at the forum and Kogi State in general.”

It noted further that, “Prof. Nuhu Yaqub, having straddled the academia with admirable sterling records, devoted most of his post-retirement time to good society advocacy, pushing the frontiers of egalitarianism, equity and justice, particularly in his home state.

“He exerted himself to no end in building bridges and fostering unity and promoting good governance for sustainable development, sub-nationally, and nationally ally.
