From David Onuoja, Abuja

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has announced that it will reopen nationwide Continuous Voter Registration, for its third and final phase on Monday, 11 May 2026, running through Friday, 10 July 2026.

The announcement marks the last window for eligible Nigerians to register ahead of upcoming electoral activities, following the suspension of the second phase on 17 April 2026 to allow INEC to clean up the register after its publication for claims and objections.

According to a press statement issued and signed by Mohammed Haruna, Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, said, during this phase, citizens who have turned 18 since the last exercise and those who missed earlier phases are urged to complete registration.

The commission also said, registered voters seeking to transfer their polling location, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards, or correct biodata can do so via the dedicated online portal at https://cvr.inecnigeria.org or at INEC State and Local Government Area offices across the country.

INEC will subsequently display the Register of Voters for public claims and objections from Thursday, 23 July to Wednesday, 29 July 2026. Officials described the statutory review as a critical step for citizens to verify details and help ensure the register’s accuracy, completeness, and credibility before it is finalized.

The statement further said that, arrangements for the smooth conduct of the exercise have been concluded and therefore, appealed to all eligible Nigerians to participate. Noting that voter registration remains foundational to strengthening the country’s electoral process.
