Kogi NIPR seeks re-designation of information officers to Public Relations Officers

The Chairman of the Kogi State chapter of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Ismaila Isah, has appealed to the state Head of Service, to work towards the re-designation of information officers in the state to information officers/ Public Relations Officers.

Isah who doubles as the Special Adviser to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Media, made the appeal when the state Executive members of NIPR paid an advocacy visit on the State Head of Service, Hajia Falilat Yusuf Musa, in her office at the State Secretariat, Lokoja.

The NIPR Chairman said the new Public Relations Officers nomenclature for information Officers in the state, is in line with the office of Head of Service of the federation circular No. HCSF/SPSO/ODD/CND/100/S.1/196 dated 21st March 2024. He appealed to the Head of Service to domesticate the circular in the state.

Isah further called on the HOS to always work towards the sponsorship of Public Relations Officers in the state to enable them attend state and National events of NIPR.

He also thanked the HOS for the meaningful reforms she has carried out in the state civil service since she assumed office and assured her of the institute’s cooperation with her office.

In her response, the state Head of Service, Hajia Falilat Yusuf Musa, assured the body of NIPR in the state of her office’s cooperation with the institute in the state.

Hajia Musa noted that her office would work on the re-designation of information officers as information officers/Public Relations Officers as soon as it receives the new modalities on the re-designation currently being worked upon by the office of the Head of Service of the fefederation.

She thanked the Executive members of NIPR for the advocacy visit and assured them of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s, administration’s commitment to the well being of Public Relations Officers in the state.
