•Wrestling Ass. lauds Hon Anyebe for prioritising sports devt

Kogi State Government, has reaffirmed the State’s readiness to rehabilitate the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja, as part of efforts tailored towards enhancing sporting activities as well as enhance physical fitness.
Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Monday Anyebe dropped the hint while playing host to members of the Wrestling Association in the state recently.
According to him, the Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo led administration, was committed to developing sports and youth development programs in the state, as well as ensuring the infrastructural development of the sector to enable actives thrive effectively in the sector.
Hon. Anyebe, appreciated the Wrestling Association for felicitating with him during his first 100 days in office.
He equally thanked the association for honoring him with an Award of Excellence and show of love.
The Commissioner retriated as well as assured the wrestliers of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s readiness to develop sports in Kogi state.
While emphasising the governor’s commitment to renovate the delapidated Confluence Stadium , Lokoja Zone 8, he encourage the athletes to put in there best in the fourth coming National Sports Festival scheduled for Ogun state later this year.
Earlier, the Kogi State Wrestling Association applauded the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Monday Anyebe, for creating an enabling environment for sporting activities to thrive in the state.
The group said the courtesy visit on the commissioner was to felicitate with him as he marked 100 days in office.
Head Coach, Wrestling Association, Ologunja Ojo, in his remarks, said the visit was aimed at appreciating the Commissioner for placing premium on the development of wrestling and sports in general through the promotion of peace and harmony between the sports ministry and the sports council.
According to him, the visit has created an opportunity for stakeholders to reflect on the achievements recorded and plan for the future as regards growth of the sports sector in the state.
The group praised the commissioner for standing by the wrestling association during the last Youth Games in Asaba, Delta state. It raised concern over the issue of misinformation and fake news and the impact it had on the performance of the athletes.
In addition, it observed that the Wrestling Association had never won any medals at the National Sports Festival since 2018 but that the appointment of the commissioner brought glory to the association at major competitions.
“Also under the commissioner’s leadership, our major competitions have brought robust DTA’s to the coaches and the athletes, no commissioner has ever paid such complete DTA ,we hope it continues” Coach Ojo added.
