In continuation of the Citizens Engagement (Gwamnati Da Jama’a) initiative, Governor Umar Namadi, has led government officials and elected representatives to Sule Tankarkar Local Government Area for the 23rd edition of the programme.

The Governor commenced the visit by commissioning a series of development projects, including a newly constructed primary healthcare centre, a modern Tsangaya model school under the state’s Almajiri education reform initiative, and a water supply facility.

He also flagged off the construction of the Babban Sara–Malam Bako–Shabaru–Kirgi–Albasu Feeder Road, a 28.2-kilovmetre road project designed to connect over 60 communities and enhance socio-economic development in the area.

Valued at ₦4,474,853,022.38, the road project underscores the Namadi administration’s unwavering commitment to infrastructure development as a key driver of economic growth, social inclusion, and improved living standards.

Speaking at the event, Governor Namadi, reaffirmed the purpose of the Citizens Engagement programme as a platform for government accountability and grassroots participation in governance.

“We are today in Sule Tankarkar Local Government, the 23rd in the series of this programme. The essence is to tell our people what we have done within two years and to listen to their feedback on ongoing projects. It also gives us the opportunity to collect inputs for our future budgets,” the Governor stated.

He emphasised that true governance is about service to the people:

“The essence of government is to work for the people, to help and empower them. That is why we are submitting ourselves to the citizens for assessment so that we can learn, improve, and make amends where necessary.”

Governor Namadi also appreciated the people of Jigawa State for their continuous support and understanding, assuring them of his administration’s sustained effort to deliver democratic dividends across all communities.

The Governor further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for implementing far-reaching reforms that are strengthening subnational economies and empowering local governments to serve their people better, as he announced that Jigawa State has been selected among the six pilot states for the revived National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme, recently approved by the President.

“The federal government, under President Tinubu’s leadership, has taken bold decisions to improve the lives of Nigerians. Now, states and local governments are getting more resources to work for the people,” Governor Namadi affirmed, assuring that Jigawa voters remain solidly behind the President ahead of the 2027 elections.

This week’s edition of the Citizens Engagement programme was graced by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, who commended the initiative as one of the most effective and people-oriented governance strategies in Nigeria.

He lauded the Namadi administration’s commitment to transparency, inclusiveness, and sustainable community development, describing the programme as a model for participatory governance worthy of emulation by other states.

Also speaking at the event, Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Ahmad, praised Governor Namadi’s developmental strides, describing them as transformative and people-centred.

“Because of the impact of what the governor is doing, Jigawa is now one hundred per cent APC. We don’t have PDP in Jigawa today,” she declared.

“We therefore assure the President that Jigawa State is for APC only. Come 2027 presidential elections, Jigawa is for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
