From David Onuoja, Abuja

Senator Sunday Karimi, representing Kogi West, in the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly, has said that the appointment of Professor Joash Amupitan, is a welcome development as it will create unity among all political zones of the Country.

Karimi made the statement during a plenary after the screening of Professor Joash Amupitan as the substantial Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja recently.

According to him, “in the history of Nigeria, this appointment has never been made from the north central and especially from Kogi State”, he said.

He therefore, thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Senate for appointing Professor Amupitan and also the Senate for accepting and confirming him as INEC Chairman.
