From Joseph Adahnu, Yola

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, has distanced himself from the decision of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), to expel Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike and other party members.

In a statement, signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou. Fintiri emphasised his commitment to peace and stability within the party, saying the expulsion decision isn’t in PDP’s best interest and could lead to further crisis.

“As a faithful party member, my position is clear. I stand for the peace and stability of PDP, and I will not support anything that could lead to its disintegration. I believe that peace and reconciliation is the only way forward for our great party.”

As chairman of PDP’s 2025 Elective National Convention, Fintiri urged stakeholders to work towards striving for unity and cohesion. He reiterated his dedication to promoting peace, stability, and progress within the party.

The expulsion, announced at PDP’s national convention in Ibadan, affected Wike, former Ekiti Governor, Ayodele Fayose, and eight others, citing anti-party activities.

Fintiri’s stance has sparked speculation about his potential role in Wike’s 2027 general election plans, though his position is reportedly guided by a desire for peace and reconciliation.
