Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to supporting the welfare and education of orphaned students in the state.
This commitment is part of his efforts to ensure that no child is left behind due to their circumstances.
This promise was made at the launch of the Governor Ododo Orphan Students Care (GOOS-Care) initiative in Lokoja recently, by the Kogi State Forum of Local Government Special Assistants.
“You are not orphans as far as we have God Almighty,” the Governor said, urging the benefiting students to believe in themselves and avoid tendencies to succumb to emotional setbacks.
“What you are doing here today shows we never made any mistake in our decisions because this government is for the people,” he stated.
The Governor commended the Forum of Local Government Special Assistants for their proactive efforts in organizing the Governor Ododo Orphan Students Care (GOOS-Care) initiative.
He praised the initiative as a shining example of his administration’s successful policy to decentralize governance and bring it closer to the people at the grassroots level.
Governor Ododo stressed that his administration prioritises collective responsibility in governance, emphasising that leaders must always put the needs of the people first.
He further reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to resolving outstanding appointment issues affecting grassroots supporters.
He urged members of the forum and benefiting students to remain committed, adding that their current efforts will pave the way for a brighter future.
“What we are doing now may not be fully appreciated today, but its value will be evident in the future,” he said.
Yakubu Siyaka Adabenege, the Auditor General for Local Government in Kogi State, praised the forum’s efforts in connecting the government with grassroots communities.
He urged the beneficiaries to utilize the program’s resources wisely, emphasising the importance of sustaining the initiative to improve education and community engagement.
Adabenege highlighted the program’s potential to drive collective progress and lasting change in the state, describing it as a vital tool for fostering growth and development.
Jafar Kamarudeen, Chairman of the forum, expressed heartfelt thanks to Governor Ododo for his forward-thinking leadership and dedication to improving lives.
