Former PDP Chairman, supporters dump party decamped to APC

One of the founding fathers of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Adamawa State, has finally decamped from the party to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The founding father, Chief Joel Madaki,  declared this at a reception to receive him into APC by the national and state party leaders at Mahmud Ribadu Square, Yola.

He said the PDP as party, has lost it’s numerous supporter so much that it will find it difficult to get candidate at all level come 2027 general election.

The former PDP chairman, noted some of the reasons that motivated him and  hundreds of supporters to declare their loyalty and resolve to join the APC.

An ex Special Assistant to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Madaki, noted that, “the unprecedented development strides achieved by the APC administration under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu endeared our hearts to the APC.”

He reiterated that a few out of the many project, the Federal Government has executed in Adamawa State, include establishment of a Federal University of Agriculture in Mubi, construction of Jabbelamba Belel road and pproval for the establishment of a Police College in Fufore L.G.A.

The decampe, who described, the construction of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Barracks, as one of the best in the African Sub-region, appreciated the President, for graciously appointing one of their sons, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu as the National Security Adviser (NSA). “This singular appointment has placed Adamawa State at the pinnacle of Nigerian Politics and governance.”

According to him, the massive development being witnessed in Adamawa State, has been made possible by the improved financial in-flow from the Federation account by President Tinubu.

Among the APC heavyweights who graced the occasion includes the Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Dalori; North-East National Vice Chairman, Comrade Mustapha Salihu; former Senator Binta Masi Garba; former Deputy Governor Martins Babale; Senator Bello Tukur; and Mustapha Atiku Ribadu, among others.

In a swift reaction, the Adamawa State PDP Chairman, Hamza Madagali, dismissed Madaki’s defection as inconsequential, describing him as “a lone ranger.”

‎Addressing stakeholders from Fufore at a meeting in Government House, Yola, Madagali said: “Madaki left alone. The PDP in Fufore is intact. None of our critical stakeholders has defected with him. His so-called movement is a voyage of self-delusion.”

‎Madagali maintained that the PDP remains strong and united in Adamawa State, assuring supporters that the party would “reclaim its pride” come 2027 despite the defection.
