The Permanent Secretary of the Kogi State Ministry of Information and Communications, Mr. Celestine Idoko, has charged working journalists in the state to continue to x-ray the potentials of the state to the outside world.

Mr. Idoko noted that the state is blessed with immense human and natural potential, pointing out that only journalists can market these potentials to the world.

Mr. Idoko, who remarked that the continuous projection of the state in positive light, would serve as impetus to the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, to continue to put in his best to advance the course of development of the state.

The Permanent Secretary was speaking at a reception held in his honour at the state secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Lokoja, last Saturday.

While promising to build on the legacies of his predecessor, Mr. Ebenezer Adurodija, he assured that he would welcome ideas that would create a conducive working atmosphere for journalists working in the state.

He reiterated that the media being the fourth estate of the realm, should be used as instrument of societal advancement and not a tool for witch-hunt, adding that the media has a fundamental responsibility, not only to itself but the larger society.

Idoko, who praised his boss, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, for being very resourceful, said he would rely on the professional advice of his predecessor, who is now the Technical Adviser to the Ministry to drive the ongoing innovation in the information sector.

Earlier, Mr. Adurodija had described Mr. Idoko as a man of humble disposition, who has what it takes to carry on with the lofty achievements and innovations being introduced in the Ministry.

He solicited for the continued cooperation of journalists to the government and the Ministry, assuring that the Ministry would keep its doors continually opened to ideas that can promote good governance.

On his part, the Chairman of the state NUJ, Alhaji Seidu Ademu, assured that working journalists in the state would always support and project policies that would propel good governance.

Speaker after speaker took turn to commend the humility of the new Permanent Secretary and assured him of their support.
