The Ata of Igala, HRM, Mathew Alaji Opaluwa Oguche Akpa, has granted Power of Attorney to Ochaba of Ugbedomagu, Chief Yahaya Omale, with a charge to uphold indigenous customs, cultural values and moral ethics in the discharge of his duties.
In Nigeria, a traditional ruler can grant a Power of Attorney to a Chief to legally act on their behalf. This delegates authority for specific tasks like managing community properties, executing land transactions, or representing the monarch in civil or administrative matters.
In the letter of appointment dated 2nd July, 2026, the Ata Igala urged the new traditional chief to be upright and bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new assignment; just as he was enjoined to be exemplary in leadership as well as be a true representative of Igala customs and values.
The Ata Igala equally called on the people of Ugbedomagu community to support and rally round the Ochaba in his desire to serve the people and the area conscientiously.
He used the medium to reassure the people of Igalamela Local Government Area, that he would continue to be father to all irrespective of community as a demonstration of the oneness of Igala people within and outside the kingdom.
Reacting to his new assignment, the Ochaba of Ugbedomagu community in Igalamela LGA, HRH Yahaya Omale, appreciated the Ata Igala for finding him worthy to serve his people and community in the present capacity.
