The Kogi State government, through the ACReSAL project, a World Bank initiative, has identified 256 ecological sites as high-priority areas for intervention.

The focus on communities such as Omigbo in Kabba-Bunu, Olubo-Ojo in Ankpa, and Etahi in Okene highlights the government’s commitment to addressing environmental issues.

Governor Ododo, represented by State Commissioner for Environment and Ecological Management Engr. Joseph Oluwasegun, reiterated the administration’s dedication to environmental sustainability.

He urged the residents of Olubo-Ojo Community to collaborate with the contractor, assuring them of the government’s resolve to find lasting solutions to erosion and flooding in the area.

The Governor commended the State Project Coordinator of ACReSAL, Barrister Ladi Jatto, and her team for their unwavering efforts in tackling environmental challenges in Kogi State.

Earlier, Barrister Jatto, represented by the Project Accountant, Pastor Michael Biodun Ojo, praised Governor Ododo for his environmental stewardship.

He noted that the compensation signifies the end of the devastating impact of gully erosions on the community.

The Project Coordinator stressed the importance of compensating individuals affected by the project before its implementation.

He announced that the team will proceed to Etahi in Okene Local Government Area for the documentation, validation, and payment of compensation to those affected.

During the compensation program, the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Jibrin Saidu, expressed gratitude to the state government and ACReSAL for their collaborative efforts in promoting environmental sustainability. He encouraged the beneficiaries to use the compensation fund wisely.

In their separate goodwill messages, Mr. Samuel Yahaya, Mrs. Jane Musa, and Dr. D.Y Dangana expressed gratitude to the Kogi State Government and ACReSAL Governor for addressing the long-standing ecological challenges facing the community.

They pledged to cooperate with the contractor and project team to ensure the successful completion of the project.
