The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to supporting the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in ensuring a smooth electoral process in Nigeria.
Addressing the INEC leadership yesterday Tuesday, Aneke highlighted the longstanding partnership between the Air Force and the Commission, emphasising their shared commitment to national stability, professionalism, and the rule of law.
He outlined the Air Force’s capabilities, including airlift support, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance assets, which can be deployed to monitor elections and detect potential security threats. Assuring INEC of the Air Force’s readiness to provide logistics support, leveraging their expertise in logistics management.
The Air Force Chief also emphasised the importance of planning and timing in electoral processes, recommending preparatory exercises and simulations to identify and address potential challenges. He cited examples of successful collaborations, including the Anambra state election, where Air Force assets were deployed to support the electoral process.
Aneke expressed appreciation for the warm reception and acknowledged the Commission’s efforts to strengthen transparency, accessibility, and operational efficiency. He affirmed the Air Force’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and democratic accountability, supporting INEC’s mandate to conduct credible elections.
The Air Force boss said, Nigerian Air Force has invested heavily in modernizing its fleet and enhancing its capabilities, with President Bola Tinubu’s administration providing significant support; while he assured INEC of the Air Force’s continued support, emphasizing their shared goal of ensuring a peaceful and credible electoral process.
