Jigawa Governor appoints Secretary of State Independent Electoral Commission,urges commitment

Governor Umar Namadi, has approved the appointment of Abubakar Mohammed, as the Secretary of the Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission (JSIEC).

This was contained in a statement signed by Mr Bala Ibrahim, the Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State.

While congratulating the newly appointed Secretary, the SSG emphasised that the appointment is based on merit, personal integrity, and competence.

Malam Abubakar Mohammed, a distinguished figure with extensive experience in electoral management and education, was born on February 21, 1960, in Hadejia Local Government Area. He has dedicated over three decades to advancing democratic processes in Nigeria.

He holds multiple qualifications, including a Master’s in Banking & Finance from Bayero University Kano and a Post Graduate Diploma in Election Administration from Ahmadu Bello University. His professional journey began as a classroom teacher at the Science and Technical Schools Board from 1984 to 1989.

From 1989 until 2020, Garba Mohammed served in various capacities within the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), culminating as the Director General of Administration and Procurement for the INEC Katsina State Office. His extensive experience includes overseeing elections in several local government areas and serving as an International Election Monitor during the Republic of Ghana’s General Election.

The appointment takes immediate effect.
