INEC Chairman welcomes Air Marshal’s collaboration on Election Logistics, adhoc staff

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Amupitan, has welcomed the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sandy Kelvin’s collaboration on election logistics, and adhoc staffs security during elections.

Amupitan expressed gratitude for the Nigerian Air Force’s support in past elections, including the Anambra election and FCT election. He highlighted the importance of logistics in ensuring smooth elections, citing challenges faced in previous polls.

The INEC Chairman equally requested the Air Force’s assistance in penetrating difficult locations and providing emergency services during elections. Emphasising the need for effective collaboration to ensure the success of the 2027 general election.

Amupitan briefed the Air Marshal on the revised election timetable, with the presidential and national assembly election scheduled for January 16, 2027, and governorship and state assembly elections on February 6, 2027.

He assured the Air Force, of INEC’s readiness to work together to ensure a secure and orderly electoral process.

The Air Marshal’s visit to INEC headquarters in Maitama, Abuja is seen as a boost to INEC’s efforts in strengthen election logistics and security. A team will be set up to work with the Air Force to address logistical challenges and ensure a successful election.

According to Amupitan, “So we value the expertise and dedication of the air force in logistic and security operations, which are paramount to our electoral system’s integrity. I urge you to please continue to support us as we embark on this very crucial phase of our democratic journey. Once again, I congratulate you on your well-deserved appointment.

“And I thank you, our dear Air Marshal Aneke, for your steadfast commitment to our mission. We look forward to working closely with you and your team in the months ahead. Welcome, and I hope you have a good result”, he added.
