Adamawa Assembly approves 583.3 billion naira budget for 2026 fiscal year

Adamawa State House of Assembly, has approved a N583.3 billion budget for 2026 fiscal year, after adoption of the report of its Committee on Finance, Budget and Appropriation.

Recalled that, Adamawa state Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, earlier presented the budget proposal to the Assembly for legislative consideration.

The report recommending its passage was presented by the committee chairman, Hon. Haruna Jilantikiri of Madagali Constituency.

The budget consideration process commenced after the Majority Leader, Hon. Kate Mamuno (Demsa Constituency), moved a motion enabling lawmakers to examine the report in detail. After deliberations, the House adopted the committee’s recommendations.

Hon. Mamuno, also moved the motion for the third reading of the Appropriation Bill, and was seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Suleiman Alkali (Yola North Constituency), leding to the formal passage of the budget.

After the approval, Hon. Mamuno described the budget as citizen-focused, noting that its implementation would significantly improve the welfare of Adamawa residents.

Mamuno noted that, the Assembly considered the proposal worthy for passage following its relevance to the people.

In his followup statement, Hon. Haruna Jilantikiri, said the budget approval would allow Governor Fintiri to consolidate on ongoing developmental projects and expand interventions across critical sectors in 2026.

He stressed that, the governor would deliver even greater dividends of democracy to the people of Adamawa State.
