The Kogi State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, NITP, says it is ready to work with the government of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, to promote sustainable urban growth.
Chairman of the Chapter, Tpl. Sani Daniel, FNITP, said the Institute will provide technical support on master plans, urban renewal, infrastructure, housing, and environmental management.
He called for full implementation of the Kogi State Urban and Regional Planning Law to check indiscriminate building and protect public infrastructure.
The Institute pledged support for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and the Kogi State Town Planning and Development Board. Other areas of partnership include slum upgrading, development control, capacity building, and public enlightenment on sustainable cities.
Tpl. Daniel said the collaboration will help create livable, functional and sustainable cities for Kogi residents. According to him, effective collaboration between government and professional town planners is critical to building resilient, inclusive, and economically vibrant communities in the state.
The Institute said it will give full backing to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, the Kogi State Town Planning and Development Board, and other relevant agencies to deliver the administration’s urban development agenda.
He listed key areas of support to include the preparation and implementation of development plans, urban renewal programmes, infrastructure planning, housing delivery, and environmental sustainability.
Tpl. Daniel expressed confidence that sustained collaboration will lead to accelerated physical development, improved environmental quality, and the creation of livable, functional, and sustainable cities for current and future generations.
