From  Abdullahi Idris, Dutse

Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has urged political appointees to work for the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s electoral success in the 2027 general elections, stressing loyalty, unity, and grassroots mobilisation.

The governor spoke recently during a high-level meeting with appointees at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Dutse. The meeting drew the deputy governor, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, commissioners, lawmakers, local government chairmen, and special advisers.

Namadi said the parley was convened to strengthen governance and party cohesion as the state gradually approaches another election cycle.

He disclosed that a committee had been set up to engage the grassroots, reconcile aggrieved members, and mobilise support ahead of 2027.

The governor commended appointees for their contributions to the state’s development, noting that many accepted their roles “not for personal gain, but out of commitment to Jigawa.”

He urged them to use their positions to uplift the less privileged and support party members, warning that the APC would henceforth monitor members’ conduct to ensure loyalty.

On recent defections, Namadi said those leaving the APC “under the current circumstances are better off outside,” arguing that their presence could undermine internal trust.

He called for sustained sensitisation to encourage citizens to renew their party membership and obtain voter cards, noting that Jigawa leads nationwide in party registration.

Addressing political ambitions, the governor reminded aspirants that “power belongs to God,” urging humility and acceptance of outcomes.  “If granted, thank God; if not, also thank God. It is not a do-or-die affair. We will strive to ensure fairness,” he said.

Earlier, the State APC Chairman, Ahmed Garba MK, praised Namadi for executing “numerous developmental projects” across Jigawa, describing them as strong campaign assets.
