The Oniyangi Progressive Alliance (OPA), has mobilised more than 30 affiliate groups to support the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu, the senatorial ambition of Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the governorship aspiration of the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Yakubu Salihu Danladi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The alliance also called for reconciliation among aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Kwara State, warning that internal divisions could undermine the party’s chances unless stakeholders put their differences aside and work towards a common goal.
The coordinator of OPA, Hon. Mohammed Deen, disclosed the alliance’s mobilisation strategy during a press briefing, while its convener, Mallam AbdulAzeez Oniyangi, separately appealed to dissatisfied party members to embrace dialogue and unity.

Kamal Deen said OPA, operating under Oniyangi’s leadership, was strengthening its grassroots structures and media operations to contribute to the APC’s electoral success in Kwara and at the national level.
He stressed that winning elections required more than political enthusiasm, noting that effective planning, teamwork, communication and sustained engagement with the electorate were critical to achieving victory.
“Political success requires more than enthusiasm; it demands preparation, teamwork, effective communication and a genuine connection with the people,” he said.
The coordinator described AbdulRazaq’s senatorial ambition in Kwara Central as a continuation of his contributions to governance, while expressing confidence in Danladi’s capacity to lead the state.
“We also stand behind Hon. Yakubu Salihu Danladi as our preferred choice for Governor of Kwara State. We believe Kwara deserves leadership that combines experience, energy, competence and a genuine commitment to the people,” he said.
Kamal Deen explained that the alliance’s support for Danladi was informed by its commitment to fairness, justice and inclusion, adding that all parts of the state deserved a meaningful sense of belonging.
He reaffirmed the group’s support for Tinubu’s re-election and other APC candidates across Kwara, saying OPA was working towards a coordinated campaign that would promote peaceful democratic participation.
The alliance, he added, was strengthening coordination among its affiliate groups to improve grassroots mobilisation, listen to community concerns and communicate political messages effectively.
It is also expanding the operations of its Central Media Coordinating Directorate, with units covering editorial production, digital and social media, field reporting and documentation, media monitoring, and radio and broadcast communication.
According to Deen, the initiative is designed to ensure accurate information, consistent messaging and constructive engagement with media organisations as political activities intensify ahead of the elections.
He urged members, women, youths and other supporters to remain disciplined and united, warning against misinformation, intimidation, personal attacks and divisive political conduct.
“Our objective is to contribute to a coordinated APC victory at all levels through organised mobilisation, responsible communication and peaceful democratic participation,” he said.
Meanwhile, Oniyangi has appealed to aggrieved APC members in Kwara to set aside their differences and work collectively towards the party’s success in 2027.
Speaking with journalists in Ilorin on Friday, the APC chieftain acknowledged that some members had legitimate grievances but urged them not to allow their disagreements to weaken the party.
“Any grievance is valid, no matter what, and I respect it. But I only plead that we are one family. It is only God that gives,” he said.
Oniyangi urged party members to accept the outcome of internal decisions, resolve disputes amicably and focus on the collective interest of the APC.
He noted that disagreements were inevitable in political organisations but maintained that the ability to manage them constructively would determine the party’s strength ahead of the next general elections.
Expressing optimism about the APC’s electoral prospects, he said the party remained capable of overcoming its challenges and securing victory in 2027.
“Insha Allah, our chances are bright, regardless of any challenges that you have. There is no smooth flight anywhere in the world. You must have your turbulence. The important thing is to have a proper and safe landing, and we are landing well,” he said.
Oniyangi also highlighted the importance of accommodating people with different opinions, noting that his political engagement brought him into contact with supporters and visitors from diverse backgrounds and communities.
His appeal comes amid political realignments and preparations for the 2027 elections, with party leaders facing the challenge of managing internal disagreements while consolidating grassroots support.
Both OPA’s mobilisation drive and Oniyangi’s call for reconciliation underscore the group’s efforts to strengthen the APC’s political machinery in Kwara, with the alliance seeking to rally support behind Tinubu, AbdulRazaq, Danladi and other party candidates while discouraging internal rivalry.
