The Igbo community in Kogi State has passed a Vote of Confidence on Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, as it marks it’s 2025 Igbo Cultural Day.

Business activities were partially paralysed in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital for a fews hours, as shops and commercial services operated by Igbo traders were not opened due to the celebration.
Igbo across Lokoja turned out in large numbers to mark their cultural day held at the the Muhammed Buhari Civic Center.

While the colourful event projected the cultural ingenuity of Ndigbo to the world, the icing on the cake was the vote of confidence passed on the administration of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Odoodo along with their pleged of unalloyed support in the 2027 elections.
Speaking at the event, Governor Odoodo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering the Igbo community in the development of the state. He equally lauded them for their support before, during and after the electioneering period.
Governor Ododo also assured them of security of lives and property while congratulating the entire Igbo community in the state for the cultural celebration.
According to him, the day serves as a reminder of the strength, the unity and the beauty in diversity.
He also used the forum to urge them to continue to engage in activities that would bring more economic development and peaceful coexistence in the state . Even as Governor Ododo commended the Igbo community for the peaceful and harmonious relationship they have sustained with other ethnic groups across the communities in the state.
The Governor went on to stress that their respect for coexistence and commitment to peace remains invaluable to the stability and development of the state..
Ododo assured them that his administration would continue to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive adding that the Igbo community in Kogi State has been industrious, a pillar of peace and unity in the state.
He pointed out that the contribution of Igbo sons and daughters serving under his administration are excellent ; just as he commended them for their integrity and professionalism and total commitment to the success of the state.
The Governor urged them to continue to mentain peace, remain law abiding and be ambassadors of harmony in the state. In addition, he assured that his administration remain committed to working hands in hands with the Igbo community in the state.
Earlier in address, the Kogi State Director General of Research and Development and a member of the Igbo community, Barr. Moses Okezie had stated that the vision of the Igbo was not to take over any land neither was is it a parochial domination but rather a strategic participation and partnership, mutual advancement in entire Nigeria and beyond.
Barr. Okezie pointed out that ” the structural reality of modern Nigeria, competition for investments, the ethnic tension, political marginilisation and even under development among global economic shifts, demand that we must act with urgency”
“Moreover, rising separatists and agitation at home and international fragmentation in the South East is a threat to derail the very foundation of what our fathers who fought the civil war and even ourselves have built, if we fail to act now, we risk sqardring the immense human and the financial capital that we have accumulated leaving our youths to drift into narrow ethnic nationalism or reaction ally politics. ”
Speaking earlier, the President General of the Igbo community in Kogi State, Chief Sunday Nwachukwu, described the event as a celebration of the reunion of people. Even as he promised to work hand in hand with other ethnic groups in the state to ensure development of the state.
Chief Nwachukwu used the occasion to commend Governor Ododo led administration for it’s commitment to sustainable development stressing that the Igbo community in the state has no reason to complain.
He then passed a vote of confidence on the the administration of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Odoodo for it’s leadership style.
