A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Adamawa State, Abdulrazak Namdas, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 election.

“On security, I have identified farmers-herders clashes as a major concern in the state. I assure you that we will pursue sustainable solutions to restore peace and boost agricultural productivity,” Namdas said.

Namdas, who also serves on the House Committee on Army, said his bid was further influenced by assurances from the Governor and state party leader, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who he said had consistently emphasized the need to hand over leadership to grassroots politicians

He pledged to prioritise human capital development, education, healthcare, infrastructure, water supply and rural development, with a focus on women and youth empowerment.

The former lawmaker described his co-aspirants as qualified but said his experience and knowledge of the state’s challenges gave him an edge. He disclosed plans to embark on another statewide tour to engage residents.

Namdas urged party members to embrace a peaceful process, stressing that his ambition was “not a do-or-die affair.” He commended the conduct of recent APC congresses in the state, describing them as free and fair.

In his remarks, Adamawa APC Chairman, Hamza Madagali, welcomed Namdas’ declaration and assured all aspirants of a level playing field.

“We will provide an enabling environment for everyone. No aspirant will be favoured. The process that produced the current leadership will be replicated during the primaries to ensure fairness and inclusiveness,” Madagali said.
