*Workplace Security Campaign ends with visit to Lokoja

As the workplace campaign team concludes its sensitisation with a visit to Lokoja Local Government Area, leader of the team and Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka, says there is no need to change a winning team.

Speaking to workers in Lokoja LGA on Monday, Comrade Edoka said workers should be resolute in their decision to return Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and President Bola Tinubu in order to preserve their jobs and improve welfare.

The Special Adviser noted that the old days of poverty among the workforce was over, emphasising the need for them not to pray for a return to the dark old days.

According to him, the only way to do this is to support the re-election of the Governor and President through massive votes in the forthcoming election having fared well under the present administration.

“If care is not taken, those who are not supposed to be fishermen will be fishermen, those who are not supposed to be begging will turn to beggers, saying raikadede, you are all looking good because the Governor is doing well and paying attention to workers welfare, it is important we consider all these with a view to taking decisive actions for our own collective interests. The Governor, has proved to be Labour friendly because he was a worker. What else do we want? Look at the number of former labour leaders appointed by him into his administration, this is heartwarming and should be celebrated”, Edoka remarked.

The Special Adviser urged Lokoja workers to be upright in their decisions, adding that the workplace security campaign was to create adequate awareness on the need for total freedom for the workforce.

In his remarks, the State Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Gabriel Amari, explained the the security tips were put in place to safeguard the Local Government Workers in view of the current security challenges facing the nation.

Comrade Amari commended Governor Ododo for his efforts at curbing insecurity and urged the workforce to reciprocate the Governor’s kindness.

Earlier, the Director of Local Government, Alhaji Aliyu Musa Omuwa, said they were pleased with the sensitisation to workers at the local government, explaining that too much campaign was not needed at their level in view of the good works of the Governor.

Alhaji Omuwa commended the Special Adviser for his commitment to duty, noting that Comrade Edoka has lived by his name through sincerity in service.

The Lokoja DLG appealed to the Governor to ensure mobilisation of workers during elections, adding that such initiative would help to reduce the workload.

The Chairman of NULGE in the area, Comrade Abdulmumuni Jibrin who spoke on behalf of other sister Unions, praised the team for its hard work, saying the visit has multiplier effects, which he said are all positive.

Comrade Jibrin who also passed a vote of confidence on the Ododo administration, promised massive support for the Governor in the coming election, and appealed to the Special Adviser to help in addressing some of their challenges.
