The Managing Director of The Graphic newspaper, Mr Yusuf Itopa, has assured the Public Complaints Commission (PCC), of the readiness of his organization to strengthen partnership with the commission for effective discharge of its mandate.
Mr Itopa stated this today when he played host to the management staff of the PCC during a courtesy visit to The Graphic office in Lokoja.
Speaking further, Mr Yusuf Itopa acknowledged the importance to strengthen partnership with the public Complaints Commission to provide effective information dissemination to the public to enhance their operations.
He noted that communication was crucial in enhancing support for individuals or organisations as they strive to settle the day to day problems they face.
According to him, the operations of the commission was a welcome development for the state especially those at the grassroots who he noted require adequate information about where to forward their complaints.
Earlier, the Federal Commissioner, PCC, Hon Deinde Abolarin, said the commission was on a sensitisation campaign as well as out to seek colleboration with The Graphic newspaper, on ways to reach out to individuals and groups who have problems.
While informing the paper that the commission will be marking it’s 50th anniversary by September this year, he further disclosed that their primary responsibility was listening to complaints and preferring solution to problems in the settlement of dispute.
He used the forum to give a further insight into their activities adding that investigations are always carried out on issues raised, just as they have extended their operations to the social media for wider outreach.
According to him, they were in The Graphic to seek colleboration on ways of reaching out to citizens and that the commission has already established offices in eight LocaL Government Areas in kogi state to ease its operations.
In addition, he said government has also provided a court to enhance dispute resolutions among individuals and organisations in the country, just as he emphasised that citizens have the right to issue their complaints.
The commissioner said they were open for collaboration in areas of mutual interests, especially in enhancing their activities in reaching out to those in the grassroots.
