The Graphic Editorial Board has sought for greater synergy between media organisations and management of Lugard TV, for enhanced reportage of the numerous programmes, initiatives and goals of the Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo led administration.
Members of the Editorial Board led by Managing Director Mr. Yusuf Jimoh Itopa, visited Lugard TV Station, operating in the Government House Media Centre, Lokoja in a bid to strengthen relationship within the media landscape of Kogi State.
The meeting was a platform for exchanging ideas on how to enhance media practice and foster collaboration between the two organizations.
During the visit, Mr. Itopa, underscored the importance of cooperation in the fast-changing media world. He emphasised that media outlets have a crucial role in promoting transparency and accountability, and that partnership between media houses can greatly improve the quality of journalism and information shared with the public.
He also commended Lugard TV for its dedication to delivering prompt and reliable news.
Mr. Itopa used the occasion to congratulate Mr. Ismail Isah, Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, on his recent appointment. He equally praised him for his hard work and dedication since taking up the role.
While noting the positive initiatives at Lugard TV under Mr. Isah’s leadership, the MD highlighted his resilience and commitment to the state-owned television station.
Itopa explained that the visit was not only to celebrate Mr. Isah but also to explore possible collaborations between Lugard TV and The Graphic Newspaper, particularly in promoting government policies and programs for the development of the state.
He called for greater involvement of the newspaper in government affairs to ensure the people of Kogi State are well-informed.
On his part, the Executive Editor of The Graphic Newspaper, Mr. James Oyewole, echoed similar sentiments, describing the visit as a key step towards raising the standard of media reporting in the state. He stressed the role of the media in shaping public opinion and fostering growth by holding the government accountable.
Mr. Oyewole also applauded Mr. Isah for his dedication to Lugard TV and called for more synergy between the state-owned newspaper and television station. He noted that cooperation between media houses can create a more vibrant media environment, ensuring that the public receives accurate and unbiased information.
Responding , Mr. Ismail Isah praised The Graphic for its consistent and ethical reporting. He commended the newspaper’s professionalism and noted that it has built a strong trust with the public.
Isah assured The Graphic team of government’s support and commitment to enhancing the operations of state-owned media outlets, adding that the present administration was ready to partner media organisations to promote good governance in Kogi State.
The visit concluded with a tour of Lugard TV, where the Editorial Board members were shown round the station’s cutting-edge facilities and operations. Both parties expressed enthusiasm for future collaborations that would strengthen the bond between print and broadcast media in Kogi State.
