Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), has commended the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), over the arrest of three suspected vandals destroying transmission equipment at the Oshogbo Transmission Substation.
The suspects, Adigwe (52), Bomi (39), and Seyi (42), were apprehended on November 1st, 2025 while allegedly dismantling three 132kV DS contact isolators stored in a container designated for tools and materials at the TCN Oshogbo Substation.
The preliminary investigations revealed that five out of eighteen DS contact isolators had been dismantled by the suspects. The three suspects were found in possession of three of the vandalised isolators belonging to TCN.
One of the suspects, Adigwe, reportedly admitted that he and his accomplices tampered with the equipment without authorisation or a valid TCN permit.
It could be recalled that TCN has announced recently that a similar incident occurred on November 3rd, 2025, when local vigilantes in Upu Community, Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, apprehended five suspects while vandalising the Otukpo–Yandev 132kV single-circuit transmission line.
TCN however, vowed to prosecute and charge the suspects to court in line with existing laws on the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure after the conclusion of the investigations.
TCN reiterated its call for collective responsibility in safeguarding power infrastructure and urged members of the public to promptly report any suspicious activities around electricity installations to the nearest security agency or TCN office.
