Hajia Yussuf Nana Hauwa, the Director-General of Radio Kogi, has been honored with an Award of Excellence for her outstanding contributions to youth development.
This recognition, conferred by Advocacy for Youth Leadership in Governance in Nigeria, at the NUJ Press Centre, acknowledges her tireless efforts to empower young people.
In her acceptance speech, she expressed gratitude and pledged to maintain her commitment to excellence.
She also emphasised the importance of supporting women in leadership and youth to contribute to the development of the state and Nigeria.
Dedicating the award to the management and staff of Radio Kogi, she acknowledged the efforts they put in making the station a success.
She cautioned the youths to shun violence, disassociate themselves from negative influences, be focused, and put in their best in all they do.
Speaking at the event, The Managing Director of The Graphic Newspaper, Mr. Y.J. Itopa, said the award aims to encourage Hajia Yussuf to continue her excellent work.
Mr. Itopa mentioned that with the establishment of the state television, he is confident that the DG, who has used the radio to give voice to the voiceless, will continue to use both platforms to amplify the voices of the people and the vulnerable.
Interestingly, Hajia Yussuf’s appointment as the Director-General of Radio Kogi was a significant milestone, making her the first female to hold the position in over 30 years.
Her leadership has been recognised for promoting quality programming, engaging with the community, and upholding media professionalism.
