From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

The Kwara State Police Command has commenced a thorough investigation into the murder of a young woman, Miss Awesu Mojisola, whose lifeless body was discovered near the Aleniboro area in Ilorin.

According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, the incident was first reported on August 12, 2024, by a local resident, Mr. Olorunoje.

He reported that laborers in the area had found the body of the deceased on a refuse dump.

Miss Awesu, believed to be around 25 years old, was found with bloodstains near her left ear. The police swiftly responded to the scene, gathered evidence, and transported her body to the General Hospital in Ilorin, where she was confirmed dead.

The case took a significant turn when, on August 13, 2024, a missing person report was filed by Miss Blessing O., a resident of Offa. She informed the police that her roommate, 21-year-old Miss Awesu Mojisola, a student of Kwara State College of Health Technology, had been missing since August 9, 2024.

Miss Blessing recounted that Mojisola had received a phone call from a fellow student, Miss Timileyin, who introduced her to Mr. Adebayo Happiness, a student of Summit University. Adebayo allegedly invited Mojisola to a night party in Ilorin, promising her ₦15,000 to act as his girlfriend for the event.

Mojisola later informed her roommate that she felt uncomfortable after arriving at the hotel where Adebayo had lodged her, as there was no party in sight. Shortly after, her phone was switched off, and all attempts to reach her since then have been futile.

In response to these developments, the police have made arrests and transferred the investigation to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), for further investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, assured the public that the Kwara State Police Command, is fully committed to uncovering the truth behind this tragic incident and bringing those responsible to justice.
