P-GAT Industries Limited and SUZHOU DESUNEEGY Company Limited China, have signed an agreement to expand electric mobility in Nigeria, with plans to train riders and technicians for electric vehicles, servicing, and battery swapping nationwide.
The partnership was sealed in Yola, Adamawa State, during the week.
The two companies also signed a $50 million Engineering, Procurement and Construction, EPC, Phase One Agreement, to build electric vehicle, EV, charging stations across Adamawa State and the entire Northeast region.
Officials say the initiative marks a major step toward expanding clean energy and sustainable transportation in Adamawa and the Northeast.

Under the agreement, Adamawa is projected to receive 70 percent of the project’s value in the first phase. The investment is part of a broader partnership aimed at positioning the state as a leading hub for renewable energy and electric transportation in Nigeria.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mike Qiu, an investor with SUZHOU DESUNEEGY Co. Ltd and Director representing Changzhou Fenghua New Energy Co. Ltd, said the global shift to cleaner energy has made electric mobility the future of transportation.
“Nigeria presents enormous opportunities for investment in renewable energy. The country’s growing interest in electric vehicles is both timely and economically viable,” Qiu said.
He noted that rising petrol prices have placed heavy financial pressure on commercial tricycle operators, shrinking their profit margins.
“By adopting electric vehicles, operators will significantly reduce operating costs while enjoying a smarter, more comfortable and environmentally friendly alternative that requires less maintenance and delivers higher returns,” he added.
Qiu assured that DESUNEEGY would provide technical support for the project.
“We will train the riders and technicians who will provide service, maintenance and battery swapping for the EVs. We will work hand in hand with P-GAT to make this project a success,” he said.
The Chinese investor described Nigerians as hardworking, resilient and innovative, adding that with the right opportunities and enabling environment, the country can achieve remarkable progress in technology and economic development.
He urged Nigerian youths not to be discouraged by current challenges, stressing that perseverance and a willingness to embrace innovation are key to success in the evolving global economy.
On his part, Prime GA Timothy, Chairman and President of P-GAT Industries Ltd, described the EPC agreement as the first phase of a long-term infrastructure plan to establish EV charging networks across Adamawa and the Northeast.
“The goal is to build at least 150 battery swapping and charging stations across the Northeast over the next three years. The same model will be replicated in other regions of Nigeria and other African countries through the ATRaS Mobility Ecosystem,” Timothy said.
He added that the project is expected to stimulate investment, create jobs, enhance technical skills for young people, and accelerate the transition to clean and sustainable transportation.
The agreement further consolidates P-GAT Industries’ growing investments in Adamawa’s mobility and infrastructure sectors, in line with efforts to transform the state and the Northeast into a major destination for electric transportation and green energy.
