• APC candidates reflect equity, fairness, says Olupo

From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

The Kwara South Traditional Council, has unanimously declared its support for the All Progressives Congress (APC), and pledged to mobilise voters for the party’s victory in the 2027 general elections.

The royal fathers attributed their endorsement to what they described as the impressive performance and achievements of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, saying residents of Kwara State, particularly those in the South Senatorial District, have benefitted significantly from the APC-led administration.

Speaking on behalf of traditional rulers across the Igbomina, Ibolo and Ekiti blocs, the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Ismail Yahya Alebiosu, said the council endorsed the APC governorship candidate, Engr. Yakubu Danladi Salihu, from Kwara North Senatorial District in the interest of equity, fairness and justice.

“If you look at all the APC candidates, you will see that they largely reflect equity and fairness. That is the right path to follow,” the monarch said.

Oba Alebiosu also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for supporting the aspiration of Kwara North to produce the next governor of the state and the Igbomina bloc to produce the next senator for Kwara South.

The APC candidates have been on a thank-you tour of communities across the district

“By the special grace of God, I have been mandated by the traditional institution in this local government and across the entire senatorial district to assure you that we will give you 101 per cent support,” the Olupo told the APC candidates and supporters at his palace, where members of the Irepodun Council of Chiefs were also present.

“I have also been directed by my colleagues to pray for your success because you have given us what we demanded. We will do everything legally permissible to ensure your party succeeds in 2027. By the grace of God, your candidates will win from top to bottom.”

He added: “We are once again grateful to Mr President and our amiable Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for standing by the truth and ensuring that what is good for one person is not denied to another. That is leadership par excellence. May Almighty Allah continue to guide His Excellency to always do what is right.

“The traditional institution in Kwara South stands firmly for equity, justice and fairness. What we have today truly reflects those values.”

The monarch also appealed to party members to remain peaceful, committed and avoid actions capable of causing division within the party.

The Elerin of Erin-Ile and Chairman of the Oyun Council of Chiefs, Oba Jimoh Adebowale Adesoye (Adetona I), said traditional rulers in Oyun Local Government Area would mobilise their subjects to vote for the APC as appreciation for Governor AbdulRazaq’s developmental strides.

Speaking through the Onipe of Ipee Land, Oba Muftau Adebayo Lawal Titiloye III, the Elerin said the community’s support for the ruling party was unwavering.

“You will not be put to shame, and you will all succeed at the polls. The APC government has transformed this state, and the party deserves to continue in power,” he said.

“We assure you that all traditional rulers and residents of Oyun will vote for the APC because we have no other party.”

The Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye, who received the APC candidates at his palace, expressed confidence in Engr. Yakubu Danladi Salihu and other APC flag bearers, saying they have his full support.

“All these candidates are my children, and they have my support. You will succeed,” the monarch said.

The Kwara APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, thanked the traditional rulers and residents of Oyun, Offa and Irepodun for their loyalty to the party and their role in ensuring peaceful primary elections.

He said the successful conduct of the APC primaries and the prompt upload of candidates’ names to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal demonstrated the party’s discipline and organisational strength.

“The purpose of our visit is to appreciate the people of Oyun Local Government Area for standing firmly with the APC during the primaries that produced the candidates we are presenting today,” Fagbemi said at a crowded town hall meeting in Oyun.
