In a decisive move against urban crime, the Oyo State Police Command, has arrested three men suspected to be involved in armed robbery and recovered a concealed toy pistol and six mobile phones during a routine patrol along Awolowo Road, Bodija in Ibadan on Monday afternoon.

Police identified the suspects as 26‑year‑old Godwin Cletus, 17‑year‑old Adedokun Isah, and 19‑year‑old Rafiu Usman, all from the Gbaremu area of Ibadan, who were stopped riding a Bajaj motorcycle with registration number BDJ 386 QH at about 12:30 p.m.

A thorough search of their belongings by officers from the Bodija Housing Division uncovered the toy pistol hidden in a black bag, alongside the phones, sparking suspicion of their involvement in street robberies that have plagued parts of the city.

According to the police command’s spokesperson, the suspects later confessed during interrogation to robbing residents and taking their valuables, with their statements now providing crucial leads in ongoing investigations to identify accomplices and broader connections.

Police Commissioner Abimbola Olugbenga, praised the operatives for their vigilance and urged members of the public to stay alert and continue sharing useful information, stressing that such cooperation remains critical in the fight against crime.
