Kogi State bags three medals at the 3rd National Para Games

Kogi State has won three medals at the 3rd National Para Games held at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

Docas Tanimu and Rashidat Isa, both won silver medals in the Riffle shooting, while Albert Megbehingbe, won a bronze medal in the Para power, eighty kg lifting for men.

A statement issued by James Sani, Information Officer, Kogi State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development Lokoja, revealed that with these feat, Kogi ensured it was registered on the medals table of the tournament.

Reacting, Coach of the riffle shooting event, Ali Adagiri, said his athletes had an outstanding performance, but ran out of luck to win the gold medal.

He appreciated Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon Aridaojo Anyebe, for their support.

Similarly, the coach of Power lifting, Blessing Itodo, commended her athlete for his performance.

She also used the opportunity to thank the State Governor and the Commissioner for ensuring Kogi State, participated in the 3rd National Para games, making the state to make it’s maiden debut.

Reacting to the gains, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon Aridaojo Anyebe, represented by the Director Sports Development in the ministry, Mr. Aje Paul, congratulated the athletes for making the state proud.

He assured them of Governor Ododo’s continued support in promoting sports development in the state.

Also reacting, the Kogi state Director, Sports Council, Mr Igah James, thanked the state government for sponsoring athletes and their coaches to the games and appealed for continued support towards the progress of sporting activities in the state.
