Olalekan eyes National Team call-up after delivering Kwara’s first gold at sports festival

Kwara cyclist, Ashiribo Olalekan, has set his sights on a national camp call-up following his outstanding performance at the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, where he clinched the state’s first gold medal.

Olalekan, who won in the cycling event, said his ultimate goal is to be recognised at the national level for his commitment and effort.

“My target is to get a national camp call-up. Winning gold for Kwara is just the beginning,” he told journalists after the race, visibly excited about his achievement.

He credited the victory to the relentless push and encouragement from his coach, adding that Team Kwara, is focused and hungry for more wins.

“The zeal and unwavering dedication of our coach has been a major source of motivation behind my eagerness to deliver gold for Kwara,” Olalekan said.

He also expressed confidence in his teammates, saying they are tackling each event with seriousness and a collective aim to bring glory to the state.

“With the kind of spirit we have, I believe Team Kwara will deliver more medals before the festival ends,” he added.
