Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has called on the people of Kogi Local Government Area, to unite in strong support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

This is just as he has stressed that sustained backing for the President was critical to consolidating ongoing economic reforms and national development.

Governor Ododo made the call during his visit to Kotokarfe, on Sunday, for a thank-you tour and inspection of ongoing projects in the area, where he underscored the importance of continuity in leadership at the federal level.

He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his bold and transformative policies, noting that the difficult but necessary decisions taken by the President were already laying a solid foundation for long-term economic stability and growth.

According to the Governor, the ongoing reconstruction of the Lokoja–Abuja road was a clear testament to the President’s commitment to infrastructural development and nationwide connectivity.

He acknowledged the temporary inconvenience faced by commuters, describing it as a necessary sacrifice for a greater and more enduring benefit.

Governor Ododo urged the people to remain steadfast in their support for the President, emphasising that the success of the current administration at the centre will translate into greater dividends of democracy for states and local communities across the country.

He expressed deep appreciation to the Ohimege Igu of Koto-Karfi and the entire people of Kogi Local Government Area, for their unwavering support, particularly in ensuring security along the Lokoja–Koto-Karfi–Abuja road corridor. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to equitable infrastructural development across all 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

Receiving the delegation at his palace, the Ohimege Igu of Koto-Karfi, Dr. Seidu Akawu Salihu, lauded Governor Ododo for his impactful leadership, noting that his administration’s strides in security and development have been widely felt across the state.

The monarch also assured the Governor of the continued support of his people for government policies and programmes, especially those aimed at protecting lives and property and fostering sustainable development.

Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Civil Service Commission, Hon. Muhammed Musa, commended Governor Ododo for aligning with the policies and programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the synergy as a pathway to resolving political and developmental challenges.

Similarly, the State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Abubakar Gegu, reaffirmed the commitment of stakeholders to the success of both Governor Ododo and President Tinubu, noting that unity of purpose remains key to achieving greater progress.

Reiterating his commitment to democratic principles, Governor Ododo also emphasised that there will be no imposition of candidates in the state, maintaining that the power to choose leaders rests solely with the people.

He disclosed that President Tinubu has consistently advised political leaders to allow the will of the people to prevail, urging aspirants to engage with the grassroots, consult widely, and earn the trust and support of their constituents.

“If you aspire to serve or want to continue to serve your people, you must relate with them at the grassroots because they own us. From the State Assembly to the National Assembly, Senate, and even the governorship, it is the people who will decide. That is where we stand,” the Governor said

He added that his administration remains committed to providing a level playing field for all aspirants, insisting that leadership must be earned through service, trust, and acceptance by the people.
