The Association of Women in Planning in Nigeria (AWTPN), Kogi State Chapter, has extolled the remarkable strides and achievements of the Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo led administration in it’s first-year in office.

The group in its submission disclosed that, in the last one year, the body has closely followed some of the developmental activities of the governor in the state especially in the area of infrastructure, adding that this has informed its judgment.

The State Chairperson, AWTPN,Town Planner, Joy Oyiza Obadoba (Federal Polytechnic, Idah), who expressed confidence in the governor’s ability to achieve more in the years to come, made the disclosure while felicitating with Governor Ododo in a statement.

According to the group, the governor deployed his visionary leadership to confront the developmental deficits in the state with remarkable achievements within one year in office.

“As planners committed to fostering inclusive and sustainable urban growth, we acknowledge the efforts under your administration in advancing urban development. Your commitment to improving infrastructure, promoting economic growth, and creating opportunities for citizens has positively impacted the livelihoods of the people of Kogi State”.

The group also acknowledged and celebrated “the invaluable role of Her Excellency, the first lady, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, in supporting and driving these achievements.

“It is often said that behind every successful man is a strong and dedicated woman, and Her Excellency has exemplified this truth through her unwavering commitment to the progress of Kogi State. Her advocacy for inclusiveness and empowerment, especially of women, is an inspiration to us all” it further added.

“We particularly commend the visionary leadership demonstrated in advancing urban development across Kogi State. The emphasis on road infrastructure, urban renewal, and housing projects in the state speaks to your understanding of the critical role urban planning plays in shaping a prosperous future.

“These efforts not only improve the quality of life for our residents but also position Kogi as a hub for investment and sustainable development. The idea-phase housing project and other initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, renewing urban spaces, and fostering economic growth reflect your administration’s commitment to creating sustainable and inclusive communities. These steps, though still in their infancy, have the potential to transform Kogi State into a model for modern urban development”.

“As a chapter of the Association of Women in Town Planning, we reaffirm our commitment to collaborating with your administration in implementing policies and programs that address challenges such as access to decent housing and liveable environment, urban justice, urban economic development, compliance with planning regulations, and ensuring sustainable land use management in both rural and urban communities.

“We are particularly hopeful that your influence will encourage greater collaboration between town planning professionals and the government to address pressing challenges such as housing, environmental sustainability, and urban justice in our beloved state.

The group then used the medium to celebrate the governor’s achievements while pledging it’s support to the continued progress of Kogi State under the current leadership.

It also expressed its readiness to collaborate with the state government in creating a legacy of sustainable development, equity, and growth for generations to come.
