From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, has rolled out a comprehensive security arrangement ahead of the Easter celebration, deploying 2,280 officers and men across the 16 local government areas to ensure a peaceful festivity.

The State Commandant, Bala Bodinga, disclosed the development in a statement issued in Ilorin by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayoola Shola, noting that the proactive deployment is aimed at preventing any breakdown of law and order during the holiday.

According to Bodinga, the personnel will be strategically positioned across churches, motor parks, shopping centres and recreational facilities, as well as other critical infrastructure, to deter criminal activities and reassure residents of their safety.

“The deployment is designed to forestall any security breach and ensure that law-abiding citizens celebrate Easter without fear. Our officers will maintain strong visibility in key locations across the state,” he said.

He added that surveillance and routine patrols have been intensified across both urban and rural areas, with special tactical units and rapid response teams placed on high alert to respond swiftly to any security threats.

The Commandant also directed officers to be firm and decisive in dealing with individuals attempting to vandalise public property or disrupt public peace, warning that offenders would be arrested and prosecuted.

“We will not tolerate any act of vandalism or attempts to cause chaos. Anyone with such intentions should desist, as the Corps is fully prepared to take necessary action,” Bodinga warned.

While extending Easter greetings to Christians in the state, he urged residents to reflect on the values of love, sacrifice and unity associated with the season, and to cooperate with security agencies to maintain peace throughout the celebration.
