The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), has formally approved the appointment of Ms. Sherifat Adegbenro, as the acting Chief Executive Officer of Eko Electricity Distribution PLC (EKEDP).
In a press released yesterday Monday on its official Xhandle, NERC said the appointment takes with immediate effect.
According to it, the appointment, “aligned with the Code of Corporate Governance for the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry, this appointment ensures leadership continuity pending the DisCo’s appointment of a substantive CEO.
EKEDC, one of Nigeria’s 11 electricity distribution companies, provides power to customers in southern Lagos and parts of Ogun State. The company was created following the unbundling of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria and privatised in 2013.
With ongoing leadership transitions within the company and broader reforms in the power sector, where regulators have been pushing for stronger corporate governance and operational efficiency among distribution companies, Adegbenro was named acting CEO.
