The Kwara State chapter of the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN), has hailed the appointment of Mrs. Oloruntoyosi Thomas as the pioneer Commissioner for the newly established Ministry of Livestock Development, expressing optimism about her capacity to transform the sector.

Speaking on behalf of the association, the State Coordinator, Mallam Mohammed Salihu, described the appointment as a “milestone achievement” for Kwara, noting that Mrs. Thomas’s experience and track record would drive innovation in livestock production.

“Her remarkable contributions at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development were instrumental in maintaining Kwara’s status as a leader in large-scale food production.

“We have no doubt that she will bring the same dedication and expertise to livestock development,” he stated.

RIFAN commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for entrusting the sector to an individual with proven competence, adding that sustainable development requires a collective commitment from both government and stakeholders.

The association urged Mrs. Thomas to leverage her previous successes in economic empowerment and social protection to improve the livelihoods of livestock farmers across the state. It also assured her of RIFAN’s full cooperation in advancing the ministry’s objectives for greater agricultural productivity.
