Kwara Police confirm Isapa shooting, as 10 Kidnapped

The Kwara State Police Command, has confirmed a violent attack on Isapa community, near Obbo-Ile, on Monday, 24th November 2025, which resulted in the abduction of 10 persons.

According to a statement issued in Ilorin by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the command received a distress call around 6:30 p.m. reporting heavy gunfire in the village. Police patrol teams and tactical units were immediately deployed to the area.

Preliminary investigations revealed that armed men, suspected to be herders, stormed the community at about 6:05 p.m., shooting indiscriminately. A woman who sustained gunshot injuries on her leg has been treated and discharged.

Security operatives later confirmed that 10 residents were abducted during the attack.

In response, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, visited Isapa for an on-the-spot assessment. During the visit, he met with community leaders, including the Onisapa of Isapa Land, Oba Gbenga Adeyeye, and the Olokesa of Okesa Land, Oba Olu Fagbamila Raphael Olusegun, alongside youth and local leaders.

The CP assured residents that the police have intensified their operations to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted persons and to restore confidence in the area.

A massive search-and-rescue operation is underway, involving police tactical teams and local vigilantes who are combing surrounding forests in pursuit of the kidnappers.

The police say normalcy has been restored to the community, while surveillance in the area remains ongoing.
