The Chairman of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), Hon. Mamman Nda Eri, has called for stronger collaboration with the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) to safeguard the integrity of the nation’s voter register.

According to a statement issued by Public Relations Officer, KOSIEC, Modupe Adegboro, Hon. Eri, made the call during a courtesy visit to the Kogi State Command of the NIS, where he held a strategic meeting with the Comptroller of Immigration, Mr Emmanuel Jenewari Tariah, and other senior officers.

The meeting centred on the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, with discussions highlighting the urgent need to ensure that only eligible Nigerian citizens are enrolled.

A major concern raised was the prevention of foreigners and other ineligible persons from taking part in the registration.

As part of the resolutions reached, it was agreed that Immigration Officers would be stationed at designated registration centres to provide technical support in detecting and preventing non-Nigerians from registering.

Hon. Eri noted that the partnership demonstrates a shared commitment to protecting the sanctity of Nigeria’s voter register, strengthening democratic values, and boosting public confidence in the electoral process.

He also commended the Nigeria Immigration Service for its readiness to collaborate with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other stakeholders in ensuring that the CVR exercise remains transparent, credible, and compliant with the laws of the land.
