– Reads riot act to criminals
Kogi State Vigilante Service (KSVS), on Wednesday, gets a new Comptroller-General (CG), as Navy Cmdr. Adinoyi Abdulrahman Mariam (retd) assumed duty as the new boss.
Mariam took over command of the outfit from Colonel Hassan Aliu (retd) at a colourful ceremony held at the Command’s headquarters in Lokoja.
Speaking after receiving the handover note from the outgoing commander, the new CG promised to reposition the outfit for efficiency and effectiveness in securing the lives and properties of residents, and also ensure greater reduction in crime across the State.
Mariam explained that the exchange of baton was part of the routine of the Command to bring more innovation to the command.
According to him, the welfare of members of the KSVS will be given top priority for optimum performance in the areas of crime fighting and making the State safer and nip crimes and criminality in the bud in Kogi State.
He warned against compromise and sabotage by men and officers of the Command in the fight against criminals stressing his zero tolerance for indiscipline and acts inimical to the safety of lives and property of the people.
He enjoined them to exhibit high levels of discipline, courage and professionalism in the discharge of their duties at all times.
The CG promised adequate synergy with sister agencies to achieve set goals especially in the provision of credible intelligence.
He expressed appreciation to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, for recent provision of protective equipment for security agencies especially the Vigilante and Hunters in the State.
Earlier in his farewell remarks, the immediate past CG, Rtd Colonel Aliu, expressed appreciation to Governor Ododo for the opportunity given to serve and contribute to the fight against criminality in the state.
